To the entire citizenry of the United States of Am To the entire citizenry of the United States of America - You do not know what it’s like to be Black American

It’s like knowing 4 million Africans died in Africa fighting against slavery

It’s like the silence of 2.2 million African-souls resting at the floor of the Atlantic-Ocean - a consequence of the middle-passage

It’s like the 12 million Africans who served as slaves in America

It’s like the consequences of the foods Black American’s ancestors were “allowed” to eat - high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes

It’s like fighting for equality since slavery ended in 1865 - for your whole life

It’s like the audacity of racism and discrimination

It’s like putting social priorities above the priorities that should be preserved for our children

It’s like having to certify that you’re still Black just to get the corporate contract

It’s like almost everybody assuming you’re inadequate first

It’s like commemorating our history while ignoring the future of our children

It’s like leaving our children’s lives to chance – when we know better

It’s like questioning why someone would air our dirty laundry when we know the world already knows

It is for these realities I started
